A computer from the office of the Managing Director of the Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam Limited (KBJNL) at Almatti was seized following the failure of authorities to pay court-ordered enhanced compensation to farmers whose land was acquired for canal and other irrigation projects.The action was carried out in compliance with an order of the III Additional District and Sessions Court, Vijayapura, after the UKP Special Land Acquisition Officer, Indi, failed to disburse the enhanced compensation awarded by the court. According to the order, farmer Nanagouda Patil is entitled to Rs 41,96,074, Devendra Basanna Talawar to Rs 32,07,990, and Bheemanagouda Basanagouda Takkalaki to Rs 65,39,367 as enhanced compensation for land acquired under the irrigation project. As the compensation remained unpaid despite the court’s directions, court officials executed the attachment order by seizing a computer from the Managing Director’s office at KBJNL.
