Hammigi barrage water reserved for drinking

GADAG

Water available in Hammigi barrage under the Singhalur Etha Irrigation Project has been reserved only for drinking purposes during the 2026-27 season. Officials said limited water inflow has been recorded in the reservoir, and priority will be given to people and livestock needs as per national and state water policies. Around 1,953 TMC water is currently available for use and will be protected for drinking requirements. Karnataka Irrigation Corporation advised farmers in Gadag and Vijayanagar districts not to depend on canal water from Hammigi reservoir during the monsoon season. Authorities said water flow may vary due to rainfall conditions.
