New Delhi
As artificial intelligence (AI) transforms workplaces, 84 per cent of Indian C-suite leaders say the technology is creating new roles within their organisations.
The report found that the optimism is strongest among Chief Marketing Officers (CMOs), with 94 per cent saying AI is generating new job opportunities, underlining the technology’s growing influence across business functions.
AI is also becoming central to corporate decision-making, with 84 per cent of Indian C-suite leaders saying insights generated by AI tools now play a significant role in their decision-making processes. However, the rapid pace of AI adoption is creating new challenges. Nearly four in five senior executives said they are under pressure to implement AI faster than they can effectively measure its business impact.
The pressure is particularly high among CMOs, with 82 per cent reporting the challenge, followed closely by Chief Technology Officers (CTOs) at 81 per cent.
The report also highlighted that 39 per cent of senior executives consider making quick decisions amid constant uncertainty as one of their biggest leadership challenges. This concern is most pronounced among CMOs (46 per cent) and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), where 43 per cent identified it as a major issue.
Kumaresh Pattabiraman said India’s C-suite leaders are entering a more demanding phase, with AI shortening the relevance of traditional business strategies. He noted that leaders must make faster decisions, adapt to constant change, and remain open to new evidence despite the absence of clear roadmaps.
The report also found that Millennials now account for 55 per cent of India’s C-suite, making them the largest generational group among senior executives. Meanwhile, 51 per cent of respondents admitted they lack clear visibility into the future skills and roles their organisations will require, with the concern highest among CMOs at 58 per cent.
Despite these challenges, nearly nine in 10 Indian C-suite leaders identified innovation as the most important outcome expected from AI investments, reflecting strong confidence in the technology’s long-term business potential.
