Senior Congress leader and former minister Rahim Khan has urged the Karnataka government to ensure greater representation for the minority community in the state Cabinet, stating that there is strong public demand from the Kalyana Karnataka region for a ministerial position.

Addressing the media in Bidar, Rahim Khan said people across Bidar, Kalaburagi, and the broader Hyderabad-Karnataka region have been consistently demanding inclusion of a minority representative in the state ministry. He said this demand reflects long-standing expectations of equitable political representation from the region.

Khan noted that the issue has already been communicated to the Congress high command and expressed confidence that it would receive serious consideration. He added that the matter would again be taken up with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during his upcoming visit to the region.

According to him, ensuring representation for minorities in the Cabinet is not only a political demand but also a reflection of the region’s social diversity. He appealed to people of Kalyana Karnataka to extend their support to the demand, emphasizing that inclusive governance strengthens democratic participation and trust in public institutions.

The former minister further said that the aspirations of minority communities in the region have remained underrepresented for several years, and corrective steps are necessary to address this gap. He reiterated that Bidar and surrounding districts have historically contributed significantly to the Congress party’s support base and deserve proportional political recognition.

Party sources indicate that discussions on Cabinet expansion and regional representation may gain momentum during the Chief Minister’s visit to Bidar, where several local leaders are expected to raise constituency-level concerns.

Rahim Khan concluded by expressing hope that the state leadership would take a balanced and inclusive approach while finalizing Cabinet decisions, ensuring that all communities in Kalyana Karnataka feel represented in governance and policy-making processes.
