At Grasim Industries Chemical Division in Binaga, Karwar, a mock fire drill was conducted to test emergency preparedness. Coal used as boiler fuel caught fire and spread to the boiler, creating heavy smoke and trapping several workers inside. Firefighting, safety and rescue teams along with Karnataka State Fire and Emergency Services personnel participated in the drill. Officials assessed firefighting response, evacuation procedures and effectiveness of rescue operations during the exercise. Overall, the drill helped improve coordination among departments, ensured readiness for chemical fire emergencies, and strengthened safety protocols to minimize risks and enhance rapid response in industrial accident situations effectively.
