Anthony Gordon praises Captain Kane’s elite positioning

Harry Kane urged England to savor their dramatic 2-1 World Cup comeback win over DR Congo, securing a round-of-16 spot.

ATLANTA

England captain Harry Kane urged his teammates to savor their hard-fought victory during an emotional post-match huddle. The Three Lions secured a dramatic 2-1 comeback win against DR Congo in the FIFA World Cup round of 32, booking a date with Mexico.

The historic victory marked the first time England ever won a World Cup match after trailing at halftime. Kane proved to be the hero, scoring twice in the final 15 minutes of the game. Afterward, he gathered the players on the pitch to celebrate before joining the traveling fans in song.

Teammate Anthony Gordon revealed Kane’s inspiring message to the squad. According to Gordon, the skipper stressed that while the win does not define them or win the tournament, they must enjoy it like any other nation. Kane noted that big countries often fail to celebrate properly due to high expectations, but a World Cup knockout victory should always be cherished.

Gordon was highly instrumental in the massive turnaround. Coming off the bench in the 61st minute, the 25-year-old winger provided the crucial assists for both of Kane’s late goals.

Instead of taking credit, Gordon praised his captain’s elite positioning. He admitted that having a world-class striker like Kane in the penalty area completely changed his decision-making on the field, opting to cross rather than shoot. Thanks to Kane’s lethal finishing, England’s World Cup dreams remain alive as they march into the round of 16.
