MLC Basanagouda Badarli inspected 200-bed hospital project, warned officials over substandard construction work quality.

Member of the Legislative Council Basanagouda Badarli inspected the ongoing construction of a 200-bed District Hospital building located behind the Taluk Government Hospital in Sindhanur and expressed strong dissatisfaction over the quality of work being carried out at the site.
During the inspection, the MLC alleged that the construction was not being executed as per the approved technical estimates and specifications. He claimed that there were multiple deviations from the prescribed standards, including the use of 20 mm aggregate instead of the required 40 mm material and laying of 2-inch concrete thickness in place of the mandated 4-inch specification. He also pointed out that proper curing procedures had not been followed, which, according to him, could significantly weaken the structural strength of the building.
Basanagouda Badarli warned the officials concerned that any form of substandard construction would not be tolerated, especially in a critical public infrastructure project like a district hospital. He directed them to immediately rectify all identified defects and ensure that quality standards are strictly adhered to in all further construction activities.
The MLC further cautioned that if the deficiencies were not addressed promptly, he would recommend blacklisting the contractor responsible for the project. He also questioned the role of supervising authorities, including Taluk Health Officer Dr. Ayyanagouda and Government Hospital Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sureshgouda, for alleged lapses in monitoring the progress and quality of the work.
Emphasizing the importance of the project for public healthcare services in the region, Badarli instructed officials to ensure timely completion of the 200-bed hospital while maintaining the highest construction standards. He said that the facility is crucial for strengthening healthcare infrastructure in the district and should not be compromised under any circumstances.
Officials from the Public Works Department and local Congress leaders accompanied the MLC during the inspection and reviewed the ongoing construction work on site.
