The meeting between CM C. Joseph Vijay and Prime Minister Narendra Modi took place at Seva Teerth in New Delhi and lasted for some time. During the discussion, CM Vijay submitted a memorandum listing key demands and development requests for Tamil Nadu. The interaction triggered political debate about Centre–State relations and the new coalition government led by TVK. TVK, which recently formed government with support of Congress, CPI, CPI(M), VCK and IUML, has strengthened its position in Tamil Nadu politics. After the meeting, Vijay reached Tamil Nadu House where he received a ceremonial Guard of Honour during his first official Delhi visit as Chief Minister.

He is also expected to attend the NITI Aayog meeting of Chief Ministers scheduled for June 11 in New Delhi. Officials said CM Vijay may hold further discussions with Prime Minister Modi during the upcoming national policy meeting. During his Delhi visit, he is scheduled to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. He will also hold consultations with Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge at 10 Janpath residence. Leaders from Left parties and IUML are expected to meet him at Tamil Nadu House during the visit.

Posters showing Rahul Gandhi and CM Vijay were seen outside Congress leadership residence ahead of the meeting, highlighting alliance significance. The visit is seen as politically important as Tamil Nadu’s coalition government consolidates after winning a trust vote in the Assembly.

Weeks after taking oath on May 10, CM Vijay has emerged as the leader of the state’s first coalition government in decades, backed by major parties including Congress and Left allies. His engagements in Delhi are expected to shape future Centre–State cooperation and policy discussions in the coming months. Further meetings with national leaders are planned during the ongoing visitin Delhi.
