Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Dr S Akash directed officials to achieve one hundred percent progress in the HPV vaccination campaign launched to prevent cervical cancer among girls in Chitradurga district. He spoke during the district level review meeting held at the Zilla Panchayat office on Tuesday.

He instructed officials from the Education Department, Health Department, Women and Child Development Department and other departments to work together and ensure that no eligible girl is left without vaccination. He said coordination between departments is necessary for the successful implementation of the campaign across the district.

Dr Akash also instructed Education Department Deputy Director M R Manjunath to conduct meetings with teachers and parents between May twenty five and May thirty to create awareness about the importance of HPV vaccination. He advised officials to prepare school wise lists of eligible girls below fourteen years and organise orientation programmes for head teachers before the campaign gains speed again after summer vacation.

District RCH Officer Dr D M Abhinava informed the meeting that the vaccination campaign started in March and girls aged fourteen and fifteen are currently receiving the vaccine. He said each beneficiary is given a 0.5 ml dose through the upper left arm and vaccines are safely stored between two and eight degrees Celsius.

Officials said digital systems such as U Win portal and e Win technology are being used to monitor vaccine stock and beneficiary records transparently. Around eighteen thousand girls in the district have been identified as beneficiaries.

The district has currently achieved forty three percent progress and stands fifteenth in the state. Officials said vaccination slowed during summer holidays but efforts are being made to improve coverage by the first week of June across all schools and health centres in the district.
