KALABURAGI
In a heartfelt ceremony, the Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC) provided a vital lifeline to families grieving the loss of their loved ones. Chairman Arunkumar M. Y. Patil distributed compensation cheques of ₹1 crore each to the families of two brave employees who died in tragic accidents.
The significant payouts were made possible through a strategic partnership with the State Bank of India. The recipients included Vijayalakshmi, the wife of conductor Umesh from Koppal, and Parvati, the wife of driver Ravi from Yadgir. While the atmosphere was somber, the financial support offered a sense of security for their future.
Beyond these major claims, the corporation also supported seven other families. Under an internal group insurance scheme, dependents of employees who passed away during their service received amounts ranging from ₹10 lakh to ₹12.5 lakh. Chairman Patil noted that while money cannot replace a human life, this insurance ensures children can continue their education without a heavy financial burden.
Managing Director Dr. B. Sushila urged the families to use the funds wisely, emphasizing the importance of long-term stability. Records show that between 2022 and 2026, KKRTC has distributed ₹38 crore across 380 cases, proving their commitment to staff welfare. Representatives from SBI were also present, confirming that they have simplified their processes to ensure grieving families receive help quickly. This initiative highlights a powerful safety net for the hardworking transport staff serving the region daily.
