MP Kota orders stronger public health access

District Health Meeting

UDUPI

MP Kota Srinivas Poojary has directed health department officials to ensure that patients referred from district hospitals to private hospitals under the Ayushman Arogya Karnataka scheme receive proper treatment and timely medical help. He raised this issue while chairing the Udupi District Development Coordination and Supervision Committee meeting held at Manipal Rajatadri Zilla Panchayat hall. He said government health schemes are meant for public welfare and must reach every needy patient without delay or difficulty. He noted complaints that patients referred to private hospitals are not getting proper response, and coordinators appointed for support are not working effectively. He instructed officials to take strict action and asked the state director to write to private hospitals regarding the issue.

He also called for a district level meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner within a week to resolve pending problems. He expressed concern over delay in ESI Hospital work in Brahmavar and asked for faster implementation of the Rs 2.5 crore project. He reviewed water supply issues, railway infrastructure, road works, BSNL network upgrades, and LPG pipeline progress across the district.

He instructed officials to speed up railway water supply planning, improve parking at Indrali station, and complete land acquisition for road widening. He stressed completion of BSNL 4G upgrades, battery installations for towers, LPG pipeline works, and rural gas connections under Adani project. He also reviewed Jal Jeevan Mission water supply, Kusum solar projects for farmers, and waste management issues in urban and rural areas. He urged local bodies to ensure cleanliness, impose fines on garbage dumping, and improve sanitation systems across villages and towns. Officials and MLAs attended the meeting and appreciated the district’s strong performance in SSLC and PUC examinations this year.

The meeting concluded with emphasis on coordinated efforts between departments to improve health care delivery infrastructure development and welfare schemes across Udupi district in the coming months, with officials instructed to maintain strict monitoring and ensure that public services reach rural and urban populations effectively without delay while elected representatives assured continued support for development works and timely implementation of government programs for citizens across district level
