Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee President Ajay Rai was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Lucknow after falling seriously ill on Friday evening. Doctors said his condition has improved after treatment and he remains under close observation in the Intensive Care Unit.
According to the medical bulletin issued by the hospital, the 56-year-old Congress leader was brought to the emergency department around 6.30 pm in an unconscious state. Doctors said he had reportedly suffered a seizure before being admitted.
Initial medical examination revealed that Rai had low sodium levels in his blood, a condition medically known as hyponatremia. Hospital authorities said doctors immediately began treatment to stabilise his condition.
The bulletin stated that his sodium levels have now been brought under control and his health is steadily improving. Rai is currently being treated under the supervision of Critical Care Specialist Dr Dilip and his medical team.
The Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee shared the hospital statement on social media and said the entire Congress family was praying for Rai’s speedy recovery and good health.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also expressed concern over Rai’s health condition. In a post on X, Gandhi said he was worried after hearing about the Uttar Pradesh Congress chief’s illness and wished him a quick recovery.
He further said he hoped Ajay Rai would regain his health soon and continue serving the public with full energy and strength.
Party workers and supporters have also expressed concern over Rai’s health and are continuously gathering updates from the hospital. Doctors said he remains under continuous monitoring in the ICU and further medical decisions will depend on his response to treatment over the next few days. Hospital officials added that his condition is currently stable and improving under careful supervision.
