Government employees play a key role in delivering public services and act as the backbone of administration, said District Guarantee Scheme Implementation Authority Chairman Reddy Srinivas. He was speaking after inaugurating the State Government Employees Day celebration and District Level Best Service Award ceremony held at the District Administration auditorium on Thursday.

The event was organized jointly by the district administration and the Karnataka State Government Employees Association, Koppal branch. Addressing the gathering, Srinivas said government employees ensure that welfare schemes reach deserving people and perform their duties with commitment and a service-minded approach. He highlighted that major schemes, including the government’s five guarantee programmes, have been successfully implemented with the support of employees. In Koppal district alone, around 3.20 lakh beneficiaries have received benefits under the Grihalakshmi scheme.

District Collector Dr. Suresh B. Itnal said government employees serve as a bridge between the government and the public. He noted that the quality of their work reflects the image of the government. He urged employees to carry out their responsibilities efficiently, remain polite and compassionate towards citizens, and maintain a balance between work, health, and family life.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Varnit Negi said dedicating a special day to government employees is unique and recognizes their valuable contribution. He encouraged staff to maintain a positive attitude despite work pressure and to perform their duties with sincerity and dedication.

Senior Vice President and District President of the Government Employees Association Nagaraj R. Jummannavar said it is a matter of pride that Government Employees Day is celebrated officially. He added that Koppal district ranks among the top in implementing government schemes, reflecting the hard work of its employees. He also noted the association’s role in supporting employee welfare measures such as childcare leave and menstrual leave for women staff.

During the programme, employees who showed outstanding service in delivering government benefits were honored with the district-level Sarvottam Seva Award.

Several district officials, association members, and staff from various departments attended the event and appreciated the contributions of government employees in strengthening public service delivery.
