Unionized workers at Samsung Biologics launched a five-day general strike the first since 2011 demanding higher wages and improved performance-based pay. The walkout affects production at Samsung Biologics and the company said it is deploying staff to minimize disruption though some impact is expected. The union seeks a 14% pay rise and bonuses while management proposed lower increases leading to stalled negotiations after multiple rounds of talks. FDA-linked regulators warn that disruptions could affect biopharmaceutical quality standards due to strict process integrity requirements. Mediation talks between the company and union are scheduled for Monday under regional labour office supervision according to reports.
