Pro-Kannada groups protest civic issues in Chamarajanagar

Chamarajanagar

Activists of pro-Kannada organisations staged a strong protest in Chamarajanagar on Thursday, raising concerns over poor civic conditions in the city. The protesters gathered in front of the City Corporation office holding brooms and raised slogans against the municipal commissioner and administrator, demanding immediate action on public issues.

They accused the civic body of failing to maintain cleanliness in all 31 wards of the city. The activists said garbage management has worsened and sanitation work is not being carried out properly, affecting daily life of residents. They also demanded urgent steps to ensure regular supply of clean drinking water and warned against distribution of contaminated water.

The protesters further urged authorities to revive neglected city parks and improve basic facilities for the public. They said essential services like e-property work and municipal document updates are being delayed, forcing citizens to visit the corporation office multiple times without resolution.

They demanded that all public grievances be resolved within 30 days and warned of stronger action if no improvements are seen. The activists also threatened to shut down the Chamarajanagar City Corporation and even escalate protests against the district administration if their demands are ignored. Officials and municipal staff were present during the protest as discussions were held. The protest highlighted growing public frustration over civic management and the demand for faster and more efficient service delivery in the city. Authorities have been urged to respond quickly and restore basic urban services without further delay.
