Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal powered Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a stunning victory, chasing 206 against Gujarat Titans.
BENGALURU
The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium erupted in joy as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pulled off a stunning five-wicket win against the Gujarat Titans. In a high-stakes chase of 206 runs, the home team proved their mettle, finishing the game with seven balls to spare. This victory propels RCB to the second spot in the IPL 2026 points table, marking their fifth win of the season.
The hero of the night was Virat Kohli, who played a masterclass innings of 81 runs off just 44 balls. He was perfectly supported by Devdutt Padikkal, who smashed a quick-fire 55. Together, they built a massive 115-run partnership that silenced the Gujarat bowlers and kept the run rate under control. Despite a mid-game wobble where RCB lost a few quick wickets to Rashid Khan, Krunal Pandya stepped up as the finisher, scoring an unbeaten 23 to seal the win.
Earlier in the evening, Gujarat Titans put up a formidable total of 205, powered by a brilliant century from opener Sai Sudharsan. Sudharsan’s 100 came off 58 balls, featuring 11 fours and five huge sixes. While the Titans looked set for an easy win at the halfway mark, RCB’s bowlers, led by Josh Hazlewood, managed to slow the scoring in the final overs.
With 10 points now in their bag, RCB is looking like a serious title contender. For the fans in Bengaluru, it was a night of classic cricket, proving that no target is too high when Kohli is in form.
