Delhi min Verma accuses Kejriwal of luxury living

Kejriwal presents himself as a leader of simplicity while ‘enjoying’ privileges that contradict his public image’

New Delhi

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma on Saturday launched a strong criticism against former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, alleging that the Aam Aadmi Party chief has misled the public regarding his lifestyle and housing decisions.

The remarks have intensified the ongoing political tussle in the national capital ahead of key political developments.

Parvesh Verma accused Arvind Kejriwal of presenting himself as a leader of simplicity while allegedly enjoying privileges that contradict his public image. He claimed that Kejriwal had built his political identity on promises of transparency, honesty, and a modest lifestyle, but his actions in office did not align with those claims.

Verma specifically questioned Kejriwal’s housing choices, suggesting that the former chief minister had opted for accommodations that were far from modest.

According to Verma, this raises concerns about credibility and trust, especially when leaders project themselves as champions of the common people. He further alleged that such contradictions amount to misleading the public, which could erode confidence in governance.

The BJP leader emphasized that political leaders must be accountable for both their words and actions. He stated that voters expect consistency and integrity, particularly from those who have risen to power by promising change and ethical governance. Verma added that any deviation from these principles should be scrutinized and brought to public attention.

In response to such allegations in the past, Arvind Kejriwal and his party have maintained that all decisions regarding official residences and facilities were made within the framework of government rules. They have also argued that political opponents often exaggerate issues to gain mileage.

The latest remarks are likely to further escalate tensions between the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party, both of which have been engaged in a war of words over governance, transparency, and public accountability. Political observers believe that such exchanges could shape public discourse in Delhi in the coming months, as both sides attempt to reinforce their narratives and appeal to voters.

As the debate continues, the controversy highlights broader questions about political ethics, public perception, and the standards to which elected representatives are held.
