‘India aims for global sporting glory soon’

BUDGAM

India is lacing up its boots for a massive leap on the world stage. Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced a bold vision to transform the country into a global athletic powerhouse over the next two decades.

The Minister shared these ambitious goals while visiting Budgam in central Kashmir, where he inaugurated a new 30 bedded hospital. He stated that under the current government’s leadership, the nation is building a clear path to success. The roadmap is simple but grand, India aims to be among the top ten sporting nations by 2036 and break into the elite top five by 2047, coinciding with the centenary of the country’s independence.

Mandaviya highlighted that the secret to this shift lies in better governance and a more organized support system for athletes. By streamlining how sports are managed, the government is opening doors for young talent to showcase their skills on international platforms. The focus has shifted toward creating a structured environment where a teenager with a dream can actually reach the podium.

“We are committed to providing every possible opportunity to our youth,” Mandaviya said. He expressed deep confidence that the next ten years will be a turning point for Indian sports. This initiative isn’t just about winning medals, it is about fostering a culture of excellence and ensuring that the Indian flag flies high at every major tournament.
