Senior Congress leader and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot extended greetings on National Panchayati Raj Day while raising concerns over delays in local body elections in the state. Ashok Gehlot conveyed his wishes to citizens on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day, highlighting the importance of grassroots democracy and local self-governance. He emphasized that Panchayati Raj institutions play a vital role in empowering rural communities and ensuring inclusive development across the country. At the same time, Gehlot strongly criticised the current administration in Rajasthan for failing to conduct local body elections in a timely manner. He stated that such delays weaken democratic processes at the grassroots level and deprive citizens of their right to elect representatives in local governance bodies.
