Dr Danamma Jhalaki said Sharan gave idea of a just society by respecting all professions and valuing work culture. She was speaking at Basava Jayanti Basavagoshti held at Gavi Math in Koppal on April 20 under district administration. She said Sharan society carried seeds of democracy and spread equality through vachana teachings.
She added Lingayat faith emerged in twelfth century as caste free and class free religion. Basavanna promoted Kayaka giving dignity to labour and building respect for hard work. She said Sharan messages spread orally in times without writing systems widely. She said Sharana voices challenged silence and questioned inequality in society. She said more than thirty three Sharana saints protected dignity of their professions through honest work. She said women were given equal importance and no discrimination was accepted in Sharana thought.
She urged people to teach children these values and make Basava Jayanti a permanent celebration. She said such teachings help build equal society and strengthen democratic values in present times. Dr Danamma said Sharan philosophy focused on work dignity unity and human equality for all. She said Basava Jayanti should not remain symbolic but should inspire real social change. She concluded that following Sharan ideals leads to harmony respect and stronger community life. Basava Jayanti resolution should guide society towards equality dignity and continuous awareness for future generations as she said in programme in Koppal
