Assistant teacher suspended for census absence duty

KALABURAGI

An assistant teacher in a government higher primary school in Dharmapur, Kalaburagi South Block, has been suspended for failing to attend census duties and showing negligence in assigned work. Officials said the action was taken under the Census Act after repeated absence from duty despite prior training and instructions. A meeting earlier chaired by the Deputy Commissioner had assigned census responsibilities, followed by training conducted from April 5 to 10 and field work starting April 16. Despite this, the teacher reportedly remained absent, prompting a show cause notice and disciplinary action after no explanation was submitted. Authorities said strict measures will continue against staff who neglect crucial duties like the national census. During suspension, the employee will not leave headquarters without permission and will receive subsistence allowance as per Karnataka Civil Services Rules. Officials reiterated commitment to ensure discipline in public service and smooth completion of census work across the district.
