Heat Wave Ward Set Up at District Hospital; Vijayapura Ready to Tackle Rising Temperatures

Slug: Heatwave ward ready

Vijayapur

With temperatures soaring across the region, the District Hospital in Vijayapura has established a dedicated Heat Wave Ward to address heat-related illnesses and emergencies. District Surgeon Shivanand Mastiholi assured that the hospital is fully prepared to handle the impact of the ongoing heat wave. Speaking to the media, Mastiholi said that special arrangements have been made to provide timely treatment to patients suffering from heat stroke, dehydration, and other heat-induced conditions. “We are ready to fight the heat wave. Necessary facilities, including beds, essential medicines, and trained medical staff, have been arranged to ensure prompt care,” he stated.

The dedicated ward has been equipped with cooling measures, adequate hydration support, and emergency response systems to manage critical cases. Medical teams have also been instructed to remain alert round-the-clock as the district continues to experience extreme temperatures. Doctors have advised the public, especially farmers, daily wage workers, and the elderly, to take necessary precautions such as staying hydrated, avoiding direct sun exposure during peak hours, and seeking immediate medical attention in case of symptoms like dizziness, high fever, or fatigue. The initiative comes at a crucial time, as Vijayapura has been witnessing intense heat conditions in recent days. Health authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious and cooperate with preventive measures to minimize health risks. With the Heat Wave Ward now operational, the district administration aims to ensure that no life is lost due to heat-related complications and that adequate medical support is available for all.
