CHIKKODI
Police in Chikkodi suspect an honour killing in which a married woman, Satyavva Helavi, was poisoned and later burnt to destroy evidence after she went with her lover. Three relatives, including her uncle and brother, have been arrested by Yamakanamaradi police after investigation into the crime. The victim had left her husband and was living with her partner when family members brought her back and later allegedly forced her to consume poison during a dispute over family honour. Police said the case may be handed to Maharashtra authorities for further legal action investigation.
