Minister Patil responds to Kumaraswamy’s remarks on IPL ticket issue

Karnataka Medical Education Minister Sharanprakash Rudrappa Patil has responded to recent remarks made by Union Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy regarding the IPL ticket issue, clarifying his personal stance on the matter. Reacting to Kumaraswamy’s statement that the government has become a “laughing stock” over the issue of IPL tickets, Patil said he has no interest in attending Indian Premier League matches.

“I do not go to watch IPL matches and I am not even aware of where they are being held,” he said. He added that his son had attended a match once long ago, but he personally has never shown interest in such events.

Patil further stated that attending cricket matches is a matter of personal choice. “Those who are interested can go and watch. There is nothing wrong if legislators attend IPL matches if they enjoy cricket,” he remarked. His response comes amid political exchanges over the issue, with leaders expressing differing views on the role and conduct of public representatives in such matters. The minister’s statement sought to downplay the controversy, emphasising that individual preferences should not be politicised.
