Chincholi
A 32-year-old farmer from Bedagapalli village in Chincholi taluk allegedly died by suicide, reportedly unable to cope with mounting debt and financial distress.
The deceased has been identified as Sanjukumar (32), who was engaged in agriculture and was facing severe financial difficulties following poor crop yield. According to sources, he had taken a loan of around ₹90,000 from a cooperative society and an additional amount of approximately ₹3 lakh from other sources. It is said that the continuous pressure of repaying these loans, coupled with the failure to secure timely and adequate crop returns, left him mentally distressed. Unable to bear the burden, he reportedly took the extreme step at his residence by hanging himself.
Family members and villagers stated that Sanjukumar had been under significant stress due to his financial condition over the past few months. The incident has once again highlighted the challenges faced by farmers in the region, particularly in times of crop failure and economic uncertainty. A case has been registered at the Sulepeth Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
Authorities are expected to look into the circumstances surrounding the incident and verify all aspects related to the farmer’s financial condition and crop losses.
