Mamata blames BJP of ‘divisive politics’

Blurb: Mamata Banerjee accuses BJP of creating divisions, rejects Amit Shah’s chargesheet, and alleges political interference in administration and transfers

Paschim Medinipur

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of creating divisions among communities for political gain. Addressing a poll rally in Paschim Medinipur, the Trinamool Congress leader strongly criticised the party’s approach and rejected the “chargesheet” issued by Union Home Minister Amit Shah against her government.

Banerjee said that instead of targeting her administration, the first chargesheet should be filed against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. She alleged that the BJP rose to power by creating unrest and using divisions within society. According to her, the party is now trying to benefit politically by encouraging conflict among different groups.

She further claimed that the BJP was attempting to create tension between communities, including Hindus and Muslims, and even within administrative and police services. Banerjee said such actions could disturb social harmony and weaken governance.

The Chief Minister also raised concerns about the treatment of government officials. She alleged that many civil servants who had previously worked efficiently were now being humiliated. According to her, this was affecting the morale of officers and the smooth functioning of the administration.

Reiterating her earlier stand, Banerjee accused the Election Commission of transferring senior officers to poll-bound states under pressure from the BJP. She described these transfers as arbitrary and called it a serious case of political interference.

Banerjee urged people to remain united and not fall for divisive politics. She said her government remains committed to maintaining peace, development, and harmony in the state, while continuing to work for the welfare of all sections of society.
