Intro
The annual fair of Sadguru Satchidananda Mutt in Gadag is set to be held on March 27 and 28, showcasing a unique blend of spirituality, knowledge, and community service.
Gadag
Gadag holds a special place in Karnataka’s cultural landscape, known not only for its literary contributions but also as a centre of spirituality. The Sadguru Satchidananda Mutt has, for decades, played a vital role in guiding devotees with messages of equality, service, and dedication to work. The upcoming fair, organised during the Chaitra month of the traditional calendar year, is expected to reflect deep devotion and collective participation.
The mutt traces its legacy to Sadguru Satchidananda, a revered spiritual figure whose teachings emphasised truth, knowledge, and compassion. His philosophy centred on the idea that feeding the hungry is the highest form of service. Over the years, the mutt has evolved into a place of solace and guidance, welcoming people from all communities without discrimination.
Under the leadership of Chairman Shivamoortheppa Agasimani, the institution continues to balance tradition with modern initiatives. Office bearers, including Vice President G.V. Bhajantri and General Secretary Ravikumar Reddy, have played a key role in organising this year’s celebrations, demonstrating strong coordination and commitment.
The festivities will begin on March 27 with a grand procession featuring the portrait of the Sadguru, accompanied by traditional music through the main streets of the city. Cultural programmes, including yoga performances by children, will also be held to promote discipline and cultural awareness among the younger generation.
In the evening, the grand chariot festival will be inaugurated by H K Patil, marking a major highlight of the event. Devotees are expected to gather in large numbers as the chariot procession moves through the city amid chants and celebrations.
On March 28, the sacred Kaudi ritual will take place, symbolising devotion and surrender. The fair will also feature mass food distribution, reflecting the core value that offering food is the highest form of charity.
Overall, the event stands as more than just a religious gathering. It serves as a platform to unite people, preserve cultural traditions, and pass on spiritual values to future generations.
