Kalaburagi
Auto-rickshaw drivers in Kalaburagi are facing a severe crisis due to an acute LPG shortage. Nearly half of the city’s 13 fuel stations have shut down, leaving drivers to queue for hours at the few operational outlets like Go Gas station. Over the past two weeks, LPG prices have surged from ₹58 to ₹85 per litre, adding heavy financial pressure on drivers whose fares remain fixed. Many struggle to cover daily expenses and household needs. “With rising fuel costs and fixed fares, it has become difficult even to manage our families,” said one driver. The supply disruption is believed to be linked to international tensions, though no official explanation has been provided. Drivers have called on authorities to restore regular LPG supply, stabilize prices, and provide relief, warning that continued shortages could threaten both their livelihoods and the city’s essential transport services.
