Matthew Renshaw eyes return to Test Cricket

GOLD COAST
Australian batter Matthew Renshaw has made it clear that while his recent white-ball success has been “awesome,” his heart is still set on wearing the baggy green once again. Despite becoming a rare three-format player for Australia this year, the 29-year-old told reporters that a Test team comeback remains his ultimate priority.
Renshaw’s journey has been a whirlwind lately. Since last October, he made his ODI debut against India and played his first T20I against Pakistan. He even finished as Australia’s third-highest run-scorer in the recent T20 World Cup, highlighted by a brilliant 65 against Zimbabwe. Renshaw explained that playing shorter formats has actually improved his game, teaching him how to handle different bowling tricks and stay innovative at the crease.
However, his red-ball form is what has selectors talking. During the current Sheffield Shield season, Renshaw has been in elite form, racking up 499 runs with an impressive average of 49.90. With three centuries already under his belt, he is the leading candidate to fill the gap in the middle order following the retirement of veteran Usman Khawaja.
As Australia prepares for a busy winter schedule, including white-ball tours to Pakistan and a home Test series against Bangladesh in August, Renshaw is ready for the challenge. By staying consistent across all versions of the game, he hopes to prove he is the reliable anchor Australia needs for the long-form battles ahead in Darwin and Mackay.
