Netanyahu denies death rumours amid online conspiracy claims

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejects viral death rumours, but conspiracy theories continue spreading online despite repeated public appearances and official clarifications

Jerusalem

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has dismissed rumours about his death, but speculation continues to spread widely on social media platforms.

The claims persisted even after Netanyahu addressed them during a press briefing on Thursday. Speaking in English, he said, “I’m alive, and you’re all witnesses,” while rejecting the rumours as fake news. He then provided updates on ongoing military operations, marking his second press conference since the conflict with Iran began on February 28.

The rumours first gained attention after his March 12 televised address, when some users alleged the video was created using artificial intelligence. They pointed to visual details such as an extra finger and unusual movements. Even after the latest press conference, similar claims resurfaced, with edited clips circulating online.

Some users highlighted visuals like his shirt appearing from inside his sleeves, calling it proof of manipulation. Others questioned background elements such as curtain movements. However, a full review of the official broadcast shows these moments were natural and not unusual.

Videos from international media outlets, including CNN, show journalists interacting with Netanyahu, supporting that he is alive. In recent days, Netanyahu has also shared multiple videos, including one where he is seen drinking coffee, to counter the rumours.

Despite these efforts, misinformation continues to spread online, driven by ongoing tensions in the region and heightened public attention.
