State Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy has clarified confusion around luggage charges by the Kalyana Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC). Speaking to the media, he emphasized that no new fees has been introduced.

The Minister explained that KKRTC has always collected luggage charges since its formation. “During the 2021 BJP government, luggage fees were revised along with ticket prices. Whenever fares change, luggage fees are adjusted,” he said. He added that passengers can still carry up to 30 kilograms of luggage for free, and no additional charges are planned at the moment.

Reddy also mentioned a committee has been set up to review luggage fees, although a chairman has yet to be appointed. “As of now, there are no immediate changes,” he said.

On other matters, Reddy avoided commenting on an allegation that an MLA accepted nearly ₹5 lakh related to a contract. “I don’t have information on this. You should ask Chandru. I cannot comment,” he said.

Addressing recent protests in Delhi, the Minister noted conflicting claims about who is behind them. “Some say H. D. Kumaraswamy, others say Rahul Gandhi. The facts from the conference need clarification. BJP is also protesting Congress actions,” he explained, adding that clear information is essential before forming opinions.

Reddy spoke firmly against corruption, stressing it will not be tolerated in any party. “Whether in Congress, BJP, or JD(S), corruption is wrong. Anyone found guilty must face the law,” he said. He also criticized delays in salary revisions for transport staff, pointing out the previous BJP government had postponed payments for 38 months despite announcing a 15% hike. “Our government will ensure pending dues are cleared and salaries revised,” he added.

On national issues, the Minister urged the Prime Minister to provide clarity. He raised concerns over international statements, trade policies affecting farmers, and political speculation around possible alliances. “Transparency and accountability must guide governance. Farmers’ interests and fair policies are crucial,” Reddy said.

Through his remarks, the Minister aimed to reassure citizens that luggage charges remain unchanged, corruption will be addressed, and the government remains committed to fairness and transparency.
