Jay Karnataka organization president Mallikarjun Sarawad on Monday strongly criticized the state government, accusing it of misleading the public over the proposed establishment of a textile park. Addressing a press interaction in the city, Sarawad alleged that the government had issued false and contradictory statements regarding the project, creating confusion among stakeholders and residents alike.

According to Sarawad, the textile park was initially projected as a major development initiative that would boost employment, attract investment, and strengthen the local textile ecosystem. However, he claimed that despite repeated announcements and assurances, there has been little clarity on land allocation, funding mechanisms, or timelines for execution. The government has been speaking in different voices at different times. This is nothing but an attempt to mislead the people, he said.

Sarawad further stated that local weavers, small-scale textile units, and entrepreneurs were given hopes of expansion and support through the proposed park. Many stakeholders made plans and investments based on government assurances. Now, with no concrete progress on the ground, their livelihoods are at risk, he added. He accused officials of prioritizing publicity over policy execution and demanded that the government place all relevant details of the project in the public domain.

The Jay Karnataka leader also questioned whether the project existed beyond paperwork. He urged the government to clarify whether land had been identified, environmental clearances obtained, and budgetary allocations approved. If the government is serious, let it release official documents and set a clear deadline. Otherwise, it should stop misleading the public with hollow promises, Sarawad asserted.

Representing Jay Karnataka, Sarawad warned that the organization would intensify its agitation if the government failed to respond. He said Jay Karnataka would organize protests, submit memoranda to senior officials, and mobilize public opinion to ensure accountability. Development cannot be built on falsehoods. Transparency is the foundation of trust between the government and the people, he remarked.
