District Collector Dr. Anand K inspected several ongoing development works under the jurisdiction of the Vijayapura Mahanagara Palike. He reviewed the progress of important civic projects and issued clear instructions to officials for timely completion.
In the Navabagh area of the city, the Collector inspected a CC road built at a cost of Rs 5 crore with central government support. He also reviewed drainage works taken up after heavy rainfall earlier caused flooding, damaging homes and vehicles. To avoid future problems, rainwater drains are being constructed on both sides of the main road under the Mahatma Gandhi Urban Development Project. He directed officials to complete the work before the rainy season.
The Collector also suggested beautification of the road median, including dividers and decorative electric poles, and asked officials to invite tenders soon.
At the central bus stand, he inspected a modern public toilet built under Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0. He appreciated its cleanliness, safety, and design, and advised similar toilets across the city. He stressed awareness programs to keep public spaces clean.
Later, he visited PM Awas Yojana houses in the Al Ameen Namo Nagar area. He reviewed roads, drainage, lighting, and water supply works and instructed contractors to finish pending tasks quickly. Of 300 houses built, remaining works must finish within four months, and houses should be allotted to eligible beneficiaries. Officials were present during the inspection tour.
The Collector emphasized coordination among departments and said regular monitoring will ensure quality work delivery and better public facilities for residents across Vijayapura city in coming months. He urged transparency, accountability, and citizen cooperation.
