The Karnataka Lokayukta has released a list of ministers and legislators who failed to submit their 2024–25 asset and liability declarations within the stipulated deadline, as mandated under Sections 22(1) and 7(1) of the Karnataka Lokayukta Act, 1984.
According to the Act, every public servant who is not a government employee must annually submit a detailed statement of their and their family members’ assets and liabilities to the Lokayukta before June 30. Failure to do so requires the Lokayukta to report the matter to the competent authority under Section 22(2). If the individual fails to comply within two months of receiving the notice, their name can be published in the state’s newspapers.
The Lokayukta’s definition of “public servant” includes all members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and Legislative Council (MLCs). As per the Lokayukta’s announcement, despite the notice being sent on August 28, 2025, several ministers and legislators did not file their statements by the deadline.
Ministers who failed to submit details include K.H. Muniyappa (Food and Civil Supplies), Dinesh Gundu Rao (Health), B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan (Housing), Rahim Khan (Municipal Administration), and K. Venkatesh (Animal Husbandry).
The list also features numerous MLAs and MLCs across the state who missed the deadline. However, the Lokayukta clarified that a few, including Planning and Statistics Minister D. Sudhakar and MLC Chidanand M. Gowda, submitted their details after the due date.
