CM warns officials against making citizens run between offices

CM Siddaramaiah cautioned officials against forcing citizens to visit offices unnecessarily, emphasizing local grievance redressal and education improvements.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah issued a stern warning to officials, stating that he will not tolerate forcing citizens to visit government offices unnecessarily. Speaking at the district-level Karnataka Quarterly Development (KDP) meeting held at the Abdul Nazir Sab auditorium, Siddaramaiah noted that people from Mysuru often travel to Bengaluru seeking redressal of their issues, many of which could be resolved locally if officials addressed grievances at the district or taluk level. “It is unacceptable to make citizens run from office to office. Officials must proactively resolve problems in Mysuru itself,” he emphasized.

The CM highlighted the district’s decline in the education index from seventh to fourteenth position as a matter of serious concern. He instructed the newly appointed DDPI to ensure significant improvements in SSC and PU results during their tenure and directed the preparation of a detailed blueprint for achieving better educational outcomes. He stressed that Mysuru’s administration must focus on both district development and resolving citizens’ issues efficiently.

Siddaramaiah also reminded officials that previous KDP meetings had emphasized timely completion of projects, but progress remained slow. He urged CEOs, inspectors, PDOs, and other officers to personally inspect schools, hospitals, and hostels to ensure accountability. Complaints about officers failing to visit offices unnoticed were noted, and the CM instructed the District Commissioner to report any lapses.

Commending the administration for the historic and successful Dasara festival, he warned that misconduct by officials and staff could tarnish reputations and directed strict action against absentees or negligent employees. The meeting was attended by District In-Charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, MP Sunil Bose, MLAs Tanveer Seth and other officials.
