A grand procession was organized by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Shiralkoppa, Shikaripura taluk, marking the centenary celebrations of the organization. BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra participated in the march, which saw the participation of nearly 5,000 RSS volunteers in uniform.
The procession began from three routes — Valmiki Bhavan, Hirekerur Road, and Belligavi Road — and converged near the bus stand circle before proceeding together to a private public school ground on Shikaripura Road, where it concluded. Citizens lined the streets, showering flowers to welcome the participants.
Addressing the gathering, RSS North Zone executive member Dr. Ravindra emphasized the importance of discipline and unity, while local RSS leader Keshav Sampekai was also present.
Speaking to the media later, Vijayendra criticized Minister Priyank Kharge, calling him a “publicity seeker.” He alleged that Kharge was vying for the Chief Minister’s position and using controversial remarks to gain attention. Vijayendra also attacked the Congress government for failing to address farmers’ distress in Kalyana Karnataka and Kittur Karnataka, who have been affected by heavy rains.
He accused the state government of administrative collapse, infighting, and neglecting public welfare. “No new pro-people schemes have been announced in the past two and a half years. The government has become inactive while citizens continue to suffer,” he added.
