District In-charge Minister R.B. Thimmapura announced that the government is considering compensating residents of submerged villages with payments equal to their property value instead of constructing new rehabilitation centers. He noted that many centers built years ago remain incomplete, and around 30% of displaced families are still awaiting resettlement. “Providing fair compensation will help victims rebuild homes in locations of their choice,” he said.
Thimmapura held meetings with officials, farmers, and workers to address sugarcane pricing and pending payments. He assured that the state’s Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) rate would be enforced and instructed sugar factories to settle dues immediately.
Highlighting irregularities in the crop insurance scheme, the minister said middlemen had long exploited it, and the sub-divisional officer has been directed to conduct a detailed inquiry. Strict action will follow based on the findings.
Thimmapura also warned that signboards without Kannada language along district borders would invite penalties. He stated that identifying land for cemeteries is being prioritized to resolve long-standing local issues.
District Committee President Anil Kumar Daddi and other officials attended the review meeting. The minister concluded by saying that the final decision on the Chief Minister’s appointment would rest with the Congress High Command.
