‘The state’s policies will be changed based on the information on what benefits other states are providing to entrepreneurs’

Textile Minister Shivanand Patil has directed officials to study the textile policies of various states, including Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, and prepare a comprehensive report.
Giving information about this after the high-level empowerment committee meeting on the implementation of a new Karnataka Textile and Readymade Garments Policy, he said, “A study report is needed to attract textile entrepreneurs from neighboring states. The state’s policies will be changed based on the information on what benefits other states are providing to entrepreneurs.”
“Due to the adverse situation in Bangladesh, the textile industry there is shifting to other places. A plan is being formulated to attract entrepreneurs of that country to Karnataka,” he said.
The minister said. “The textile industry in Tamil Nadu is in good condition. Most entrepreneurs are showing interest in investing in Tamil Nadu. We need to study what can be done to attract them to our state.”
Saying the Maharashtra government is providing subsidy in the electricity bill itself, he said that if this system is followed in our state too, textile entrepreneurs from Maharashtra are willing to invest here.
“There should be no delay in approving proposals from entrepreneurs. If the state government delays in providing benefits, entrepreneurs will look towards neighboring states,” he said. The officials have been advised to take interest in attracting entrepreneurs from neighboring states to Karnataka, he added.
