Ramalinga Reddy urges party leaders to stay silent to avoid internal damage

Minister Ramalinga Reddy urged Congress leaders to avoid public remarks, warning that unnecessary statements could harm the party and benefit the Opposition.

Karnataka Minister Ramalinga Reddy cautioned Congress leaders against making public comments on sensitive political matters, saying, “The more we talk, the more damage we cause to the party.” Speaking to reporters in Ramanagara amid ongoing speculation over cabinet expansion and leadership changes, he made it clear that he would not comment on such issues.

Reddy emphasized that unnecessary public discussions only provide fodder for the Opposition. “If we keep talking, it benefits rival parties. We should discuss internal matters within four walls, not before the media,” he said, adding that unlike the BJP, the Congress does not have factions but should maintain unity through discretion and discipline.

He advised party colleagues to remain silent and avoid statements that could harm the party’s image. “Everyone should understand this — staying quiet is sometimes the best service we can do for the organization,” he remarked.

Commenting on the Karnataka High Court’s interim order staying the government’s circular banning RSS activities in educational institutions, Reddy clarified that the directive was not new. “This order was originally issued during Jagadish Shettar’s tenure. It applies equally to all organizations and political groups — no programs should be held inside school or college campuses,” he explained.

Reddy said the Chief Minister has already stated that the government will file an appeal against the court’s order, maintaining that the circular aims to ensure educational spaces remain apolitical.
