Karnataka Congress leader Aditya, a former Youth Congress vice-president of Aldur Hobli, has been arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a woman and circulating her edited photos online. The arrest followed a complaint lodged by a woman from Jayanagar, who accused him of sending inappropriate messages and misusing her pictures.
According to police, the accused befriended the woman over the phone, after which he began harassing her. She alleged that Aditya downloaded her social media photos, edited them, and circulated them on various platforms. The woman also claimed he issued death threats when she confronted him about his actions.
Reports say that a few local residents recently confronted the accused at his home in Adishakti Nagar and assaulted him, with a video of the incident going viral on social media. However, no official complaint has been filed regarding the assault.
The Chikkamagaluru City Police have registered a case (Crime No. 182/25) under sections 75(2) and 78 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), sections 67 and 67(A) of the IT Act, and section 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
Police said an investigation is underway to gather digital evidence and identify others involved, if any. Officials added that further legal action will be taken based on the findings.
