District Collector T. Venkatesh has announced that land will be reserved in all villages of Chitradurga district to provide housing plots for the homeless, victims of violence, and those without land. He was speaking at a quarterly district awareness and monitoring committee meeting held at the District Collector’s Office on Saturday.

The Revenue Department has already identified 1,000 acres across the district for this purpose. Priority will be given to families of those not involved in violence while providing housing and social security benefits. In cases of violence, the victims’ families will receive compensation and employment support as per the law.

This year, 30 cases of violence have been reported, including 6 deaths, 3 rape cases, and 21 caste abuse incidents. Compensation of ₹40.42 lakh has been paid to the victims. There are 136 pending violence cases in court, with one conviction and 12 acquittals, according to Mallikarjun, Deputy Director of Social Welfare.

A special police station has been set up to speed up justice for violence cases. So far, 15 cases have been registered this year, with seven under trial and eight under investigation, said SP Ranjat Kumar Bandaru.

The District Collector also stressed the importance of bringing school dropouts back to school, stopping illegal liquor sales, ending inhumane traditions, and protecting children from child labor.

Efforts to support farmers through the e-Snap app are ongoing. Agriculture officer Mithun said 27,304 advisories were sent during this monsoon on disease and pest control.

Former committee members were honored for their service after their term ended. Officials were also instructed to ensure full use of SCSP and TSP funds and to collect details of families involved in manual scavenging before 2013.
