The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) reported that the recent Lok Adalat successfully resolved a total of 13,17,162 cases, including 13,03,194 pre-litigation disputes and 13,968 pending court cases out of 1,05,209 cases pending across district courts, said Pr. District and Sessions Judge & DLSA Chairperson B. Jayanth Kumar.
Addressing the media at the District Court complex, he said that the National Lok Adalat will be organized on December 13 across all district courts to provide free and effective legal services to vulnerable sections of society. He emphasized that Lok Adalats help citizens resolve pending and pre-litigation disputes quickly through amicable settlement.
The Lok Adalat covers a wide range of cases, including bank recovery, labor disputes, electricity and water bill issues, property disputes, loan recoveries, and motor accident claims. Parties can participate directly or through lawyers, with mediators guiding settlements. Disputes are resolved only if both parties consent, ensuring fairness.
Under a 90-day special mediation campaign, 82,546 cases were reviewed, 2,402 identified for mediation, and 142 successfully settled. Traffic violation cases received 50% concessions, generating ₹7.15 crore from 24,725 cases.
Senior officials stressed that decisions in Lok Adalats are final and binding, with no further appeal. Citizens with pending or pre-litigation cases are encouraged to utilize the upcoming National Lok Adalat for faster, low-cost resolutions.
