Embrace Swadeshi to boost growth, create jobs: Modi

After inaugurating the first phase of Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people to adopt Swadeshi to strengthen the nation and benefit citizens. “Adopt Swadeshi. Say it proudly. If people buy Swadeshi goods and gift them, the money will stay in the economy, boosting growth and creating jobs,” he said.

PM Modi highlighted the positive impact of GST reforms, noting strong sales during the recent Navaratri festival. He emphasized that youth and employment remain key priorities for the BJP-led government under its Viksit Bharat mission.

Criticizing past governments, he said the Congress-led UPA failed to respond strongly after the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, weakening national security. He also blamed the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi government for delaying development projects, which caused economic setbacks.

The Prime Minister said the inauguration of NMIA’s first phase and other connectivity projects would position Mumbai as a global hub. He noted that the city’s long wait for a second airport has ended, improving commerce and connectivity. “NMIA represents culture, prosperity, and Viksit Bharat. Farmers can export to Europe and Gulf countries, small and medium industries will grow, and new industries will emerge,” he said.

PM Modi also inaugurated the final phase of Mumbai Metro Line-3, launched the Mumbai One App, and the Chief Minister’s Short-Term Employability Programme (STEP) to provide youth with industry-relevant training. He recalled the contributions of Loknete DB Patil to farmers and citizens, noting that his dedication will continue to inspire others.
