Maharashtra CM announces Rs 31,628 cr relief package for flood-hit farmers

Maha Cabinet approves Gems Policy 2025, boosts investment, jobs

The Maharashtra Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, on Tuesday approved several key policies and initiatives aimed at boosting industrial growth, infrastructure, and social welfare in the state. Notably, the State Gems and Jewellery Policy-2025 was cleared to promote industries related to gold, silver, diamonds, and gems. The government expects this policy to attract investments of Rs 1 lakh crore and create around five lakh jobs, strengthening the sector’s economic impact.

The Cabinet also approved a comprehensive wastewater treatment policy for 424 urban local bodies, focusing on recycling, sustainable management, environmental protection, and promoting a circular economy.

Amendments were made to the Maharashtra Prohibition of Partition of Holding Lands and their Consolidation Act, 1947, by removing section 8(b) and adding a new provision after sub-section (3) of section 9.

For urban development, a Slum Cluster Redevelopment Scheme was approved to accelerate slum rehabilitation in Mumbai. Additionally, 2 hectares 38 acres of land in Mouja Badnera were allotted to Amravati Municipal Corporation for a 30-year e-bus depot under the Central PME Bus Scheme.

The Cabinet also approved the revised In-Service Assured Progress Scheme for non-teaching employees of 980 private aided and residential ashram schools, providing two key benefits.

In the textile sector, private spinning mills will receive an electricity subsidy of Rs 3 per unit, with registration required on the Textiles Commissionerate portal within six months. Power loom clusters will benefit under the State Industrial Cluster Development Scheme.

Finally, the Cabinet sanctioned the establishment of a Senior Civil Court at Akole in Ahilyanagar district along with the necessary posts.

CM comes in support of needy  

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday announced a Rs 31,628 crore relief package for farmers affected by heavy rains and floods. The package includes Rs 10,000 cash support per farmer and compensation for crop losses across 29 districts, covering over 68 lakh hectares. Additional support includes Rs 47,000 per hectare, Rs 3 lakh per hectare under MGNREGA, rebuilding of damaged houses under PM Awas Yojana, Rs 50,000 for affected shop owners, and full compensation for dead cattle. CM Fadnavis emphasized helping farmers recover and return to normal life.
