BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Sunday launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of defaming India on foreign soil and undermining its cultural and national values. Speaking to IANS at an event in Amritsar, Chugh alleged that Gandhi has been operating as part of a “foreign toolkit” aimed at tarnishing India’s global image.
“It is unfortunate that someone who views India through an ‘Italian lens’ and becomes part of an international agenda to defame the country now claims the title of ‘Jan Nayak’,” Chugh said. He further criticised Gandhi for allegedly insulting the Indian Army and national icons, arguing that such actions disqualify him from being considered a people’s leader.
Chugh also contrasted Gandhi’s approach with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying, “Under PM Modi, India’s youth are engaged in nation-building, while some leaders are focused on maligning the country abroad.”
JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar echoed the criticism, noting that internal political matters should not be aired abroad. He added that Gandhi’s foreign education may influence his perspective and reiterated that India has historically been guided by leaders like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who prioritized national unity and the country’s interest above all.
Chugh concluded by asserting that the people have repeatedly rejected the Gandhi-Nehru family’s “foreign mindset” and suggested that public sentiment would not endorse leaders who undermine India’s image internationally.
This statement comes amid Rahul Gandhi’s recent remarks made abroad, which have drawn widespread criticism from multiple political quarters for allegedly projecting India negatively on the global stage.
