The producer confirmed that the promo will launch simultaneously in theaters and on social media for this gangster drama set in North Chennai.
STR 49 marks the first collaboration between Silambarasan and director Vetri Maaran. Initially, the promo was scheduled for October 4, but the makers chose to postpone it in light of the tragedy. Since Anirudh Ravichander, who has teamed up with Silambarasan and Vetri Maaran for the first time on this project, celebrates his birthday on October 18, the makers decided to align the promo release with this special day, making it memorable for fans. After his successful film Viduthalai 2, Vetri Maaran was set to start the long-awaited Vaadi Vaasal with Suriya. However, he surprised fans by choosing to collaborate with Silambarasan for STR 49. Shooting for the gangster drama, set against a North Chennai backdrop, is expected to begin in the second half of the year after the promo launch.
