Goyal met CapitaLand leaders Lee Chee Koon and Manohar Khiatani to discuss advancing sustainable urban development, infrastructure expansion in logistics, warehousing, data centres, and exploring new growth opportunities through strategic collaboration in India

Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal met with Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on Friday to discuss further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and Singapore. In a post on X, Minister Goyal said the discussions reaffirmed their commitment to building on the strong momentum and vast potential for future growth in their partnership. Wong responded, highlighting their productive talks on deepening economic ties, including industrial park development and emerging technologies like AI.

Minister Goyal also met Chin Yau Seng, CEO of Singapore Airlines Engineering Company (SIAEC), to discuss boosting cooperation in the aviation Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) sector. They explored collaboration opportunities in innovation, skill development, and investment to support India’s growing aerospace ecosystem and enhance global connectivity.

Additionally, Goyal met Lee Chee Koon, Group CEO, and Manohar Khiatani, Senior Executive Director of CapitaLand Investment. Their discussion focused on advancing sustainable urban development and expanding infrastructure in India, especially in logistics, warehousing, and data centres. The talks also covered new opportunities to drive India’s growth through strategic collaboration.

Last month, Prime Minister Wong met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi to discuss outcomes of the 3rd India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable. They emphasized mutual interest in collaborating on cross-border data flows and capital markets, recognizing significant potential to enhance financial and digital connections between the two nations.

Wong’s visit coincided with the 60th anniversary of India-Singapore diplomatic relations, reaffirming both countries’ commitment to strengthening their partnership further.
