Out of the 3.85 lakh houses identified in the district for the social and educational survey of backward classes, the survey of 1.45 lakh houses has been completed. So far, there has been 38 percent progress and we are at 15th position in the state. The survey should be further accelerated, said Deputy Commissioner K Nagendra Prasad.

He spoke after holding a progress meeting with the survey nodal officers.

It has been 8 days since the survey began. In the remaining days, a suitable technical plan should be formulated and appropriate guidance should be provided to the enumerators to achieve the set target and keep the district at the forefront in the state, he said.

Expressing concern that the expected results are not being achieved from Sandur and Bellary taluks in the district, he said that the officials should work together and cooperate with each other.

Out of the 79 thousand houses in Sandur area, Torangallu and Vaddu villages have 10 thousand houses each, out of which Torangallu has 6 townships in Jindal limits. The survey work here is progressing slowly. Therefore, camps should be organized in the townships to inform the houses to undergo the survey work, he said.

Additional District Collector Mohammad N Zubair, Assistant Commissioner P Pramod, Backward Classes Welfare Officer Jalalappa, DMF Special Officer Lokesh, Municipal Corporation Commissioner PS Manjunath and others were present in the meeting.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Harris Sumair said that in Torangallu and Vaddu villages of Sandur, more than 10 people from outside the state live in one house. A census should be conducted by obtaining the Aadhaar card information of one person there. He instructed the Sandur taluk Tahsildar that no delay should be allowed for any reason.
