Toronto
Inter Miami CF earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Toronto FC at BMO Field, extending their unbeaten streak in the regular season to four matches.
The game began with Inter Miami looking sharp. In the 12th minute, RodrĂguez tried a right-footed strike from outside the box, but Toronto’s goalkeeper made a diving save. Soon after, Lionel Messi nearly gave Miami the lead in the 29th minute following a clever pass from Sergio Busquets, though his shot was denied.
On the opposite side, Miami goalkeeper Ustari came up big in the 35th minute, stopping Alonso Coello’s grounded effort. Messi threatened again in the 44th minute, but his shot was blocked. Finally, in first-half stoppage time, Tadeo Allende opened the scoring with a header at the far post. Jordi Alba provided the assist, his 11th of the campaign. It was Allende’s ninth goal of the season, sending Miami into halftime 1-0 ahead.
Toronto responded strongly after the break. Djordje Mihailovic equalized in the 60th minute, slotting the ball home to make it 1-1. Inter Miami pushed hard to retake the lead. Messi had two of the best chances late in the game: a near-post strike in the 76th minute and a curling free kick in the 83rd. Both were saved by the Toronto goalkeeper.
Despite the pressure, neither side could find the winner, and the contest ended level. Inter Miami, encouraged by their strong run of form, will now quickly shift focus to their next match, hosting Chicago Fire FC on Tuesday night.
