Barcelona fight back to defeat Oviedo away

Oviedo
FC Barcelona came from behind to beat newly promoted Oviedo 3-1 in La Liga, keeping them two points behind leaders Real Madrid. The victory at Carlos Tartiere Stadium marked Barca’s sixth win in seven matches this season.

Oviedo shocked the visitors in the 33rd minute when Alberto Reina scored from 45 meters. The goal came after Barca goalkeeper Joan Garcia miscontrolled the ball far outside his area, leaving the net open. Despite the setback, Barcelona responded strongly in the second half.

Ten minutes after the restart, Ferran Torres’ shot was deflected into Eric Garcia’s path, and the defender calmly slotted home to level the score. The momentum then shifted. Substituted on in the 65th minute, Robert Lewandowski made an instant impact, heading in Frenkie de Jong’s cross in the 70th to give Barca a 2-1 lead. Ronald Araujo sealed the win with another header in the 88th minute, finishing Marcus Rashford’s pass.

The result means Barcelona stay unbeaten and maintain close pressure on rivals Real Madrid. With a quick turnaround, they now prepare to host Real Sociedad on Sunday.

The game also marked a milestone for coach Hansi Flick, who has now achieved 50 wins in just 67 matches in charge, making him the third-fastest to reach that record in club history. Only Luis Enrique (60 games) and Helenio Herrera (63 games) reached the landmark quicker.

Meanwhile, in Thursday’s earlier match, Osasuna drew 1-1 with Elche. Victor Munoz scored early for Osasuna, but Adria Pedroza equalised after halftime, keeping Elche unbeaten after six games this season.
